My son is not eating....please help with any ideas

by Janet

Hi,

I have a 16mo son. His eating has gotten from bad to worse. He is now averaging about 5ozs of solids a day with about 20 oz of milk. He fights really hard during meals. We have used every technique/foods we can think of ...distractions, changing environments, changing utensils, eating with him, playing and eating, having cartoons on, letting him feel the food, giving him some choices,...and so forth. I feel like we are a small percentage at this point and am weary...it's taking a toll on our entire family. He has been this way since 2 months, even with nursing and formula..he was on axid off and on per pediatrician. He is below 3% in his weight and 20% in height. I am really concerned of this development and trauma/feeding aversion may have on him.

baby not eating

hi everyone!
my story is this: I have the impression that everytime I am obliged to be away from the house, my baby daughter loses her appetite.
I would have to start by saying, that in general, she seems to be enjoying the experience of breastfeeding and everything else simply doesn't feel as good to her. She is now 10 months old, and although I am now ready to stop breastfeeding, she on the other hand,is simply not willing to...cooperate!!
The first time I had to go back to work, she was 3 months old. I was away from home for about 5-6 hours everyday and during those hours, she would refuse not only formula milk but also my own milk which I had place into small bottles. Only when I came home, did she seem to get her appetite back.
When in month 6 and until now that she is in month 10, I was no longer working. I continue to breast feed and occasionally I would introduce her to other types of food. In general, she seems to like fruits, formula milk but she closes her mouth when I try to give her vegetables or meat.
My biggest concern is that now that I have gone back to work (it's been a week), she went back to her attitude of not eating. she accepts 2-3 spoons of fruit creme or yogurt and no more than 120ml of milk.
Does all this make any sense?
Is there anyone out there with similar problems?
I am desperated for some advice and encouragement.

Greetings to you all

Baby not eating!!!

by Hem
(Geneva)

My 4-month old has never taken to the breast, so i expressed milk and gave in a bottle. for the past 2 months she is not eating what she should be and it is getting worse - we have done all sorts of tests and nothing has been found - but she has a poor appetite and we have to force her to get her to eat. We tried different bottles, different milks, (she prefers breast milk) but nothing helps. Any advice on the potential causes of a baby not eating would be greately appreciated. thanks!
