Kids clothing and baby clothing -how to choose and get good bargains?

Parents love to see their children dressed in clothes of different styles and colors. While money undoubtedly plays an important role in the selection of kids clothing, a few other factors like climate of the place and convenience of the child have to be borne in mind. Sometimes clothes can cause allergy in babies.

Material used for manufacture of clothes can be natural, synthetic or a combination of both. Natural materials are cotton, silk and wool. Synthetic materials include nylon and polyester.

Allergic reactions are commonly seen with clothes made of synthetic material and also due to dyes. Occasionally flame-retardant substance added to the fabric can cause allergy. Elastic used for waistband in underwear or pants is another cause.

For babies and small children dresses which open either at front or back are convenient. Dresses which have to be slipped over head are cumbersome and are better avoided. In tropical countries loose fitting cotton clothes are the most suitable.

In cold countries woolen clothes are required. It is better to put woolen clothes on top of cotton clothes. While choosing clothes for babies and children, always buy those which are slightly bigger because young children grow very fast. Always wash new clothes before putting them on.

Advantages of cotton clothing

Cotton readily absorbs water and allows it to evaporate into the atmosphere. Hence not much water can collect between the garment and the skin. Excess accumulation of water under the cloth can cause chafing of the skin and also predispose to fungal infections.

Cotton is least likely to cause allergic reaction. Cotton is also free from static charge decreasing the possibility of catching fire due to sparks. Hence kids clothing made of cotton should be preferred.

Be careful while using trousers with zips. Many male children have had their prepuce (foreskin) caught in the zip while closing. Never use such dress directly. Always use an underwear and pull the zip only after the underwear is in place fully covering the genital organ.

Branded dresses are always costly but certainly have a better look. Some shades are exclusive to branded dresses and the fabric as such is not released to the market. Unbranded dresses are available in every country and are often of good quality.

Those with a tight budget can go for them. Almost all stores offer discounts during special occasions like Christmas, New year day and Children's day. It is better to shop for garments during such occasions.
